Off to the Pink Parlour!

Wow! After 3 weeks of working 15 hour days it's finally time! Tomorrow morning my crew and I (the parents, sister, boyfriend, and cousin) head down to L.A. for......

I'm super excited! I've been hard at work in perfecting my table and I am really excited to see all the other vendors and meet some new people! The show is being sponsored by Kat Von D's Wonder Gallery and Pin Up Girl Clothing! They are even having a contest for the best looking table! Hope it's me! Here is a sneak preview of my wares! Hope to see you there!

Phew..... I'm tired!

The Results are In...

Hey guys,

So the final results of the Enchanted Doll contest are in and I WON! No just kidding I didn't. Actually I didn't even make the top 10! Poo! Oh well. There were some great entries and some tough competition. I did predict one of the top 3 though! Anyway, this is the first place winning entry:

At first I admit I wasn't so sure why this won, but after looking over the entry this person has a great sense of design and craftsmanship with a very thoroughly developed concept. Congrats to Amal! I have to point out an irony however... In one of the sketches Amal submitted they noted that "Maleficent" from Sleeping Beauty was one of their inspirations.... I also used that idea in my submission. Also I had some other similar ideas like the neck piece and the cage-bustier Anyway, just thought that these similarities were cool.... Though I didn't know I could have submitted my preliminary sketches.... :-X

Enchanted Doll Contest Pt.1

So the winner of the Enchanted Doll contest is being announced this evening and I admit I have some excitement jitters! There a lot of fabulous entries, but I am feeling confident in my entries, "Odette and Odile." Judge for yourself and let me know what you think! Click the image below to see all the entries:

My gals are on the far left, 10th from the top! Click here to see my entry!

So for fun, I am going to try and pick 1st, 2nd, 3rd place.... excluding my own entry (which obviously should be 1st place...haha ;-)

~Leilani's Picks for Enchanted Doll Contest~

First place goes to, VALENTINE by Katarzyna

Obviously a very talented artist, I love how she put her own style into it and created a very unique concept and design. Reminds me of The Queen of Hearts. Beautiful. Hard to top this one.
My 2nd place pick goes to:
Gali, The Goldfish Princess by Eliza

I love the hair and face make up on this one. The drape over the arms is beautiful as well. Again, another talented artist, however I do wish some clothing elements had been added or perhaps even scale like tattoos. Her body is a little bare....teehee ^_^

Finally, my 3rd place pick goes to:
Untitled by Amarilli

This is just a fabulous illustration, also kind of Queen of Hearts-esk haha. It's beautifully done, romantic, gothy and tragic. LOVE IT!. But this girl won last year so I'm afraid I must disqualify her!

haha, anyway, those are my favorites. Take a look and see what you think! I'll announce the winner as soon as I know! Good luck to all! ^_^

Spectra

I had a dream about a girl with a huge mane of rainbow colored hair blowing in the wind! I've decided to make her come to life! In this demo, I really wanted to achieve a very organic free form shape for her hair, which I achieved by painting with water and letting the paint go where it wanted...

The final product, "Spectra."

After finishing my piece "Spectra" I decided to browse the internets and see if there were any real life rainbow hair girls out there.... Turns out there are! How they maintain these looks are beyond me, but it's really fun to see my vision translated in the real world! It's crazy that even the make-up is similar! I swear I didn't even see this photos before I did my piece!

Rock on rainbow hair divas.....I totally want rainbow hair now too....
